Check your device
Unpack your Trezor and inspect the packaging and device for anything unexpected. Use a computer you trust, connect the wallet directly, and avoid public or shared machines.
A simple, safer first setup
Starting with a hardware wallet should feel straightforward. Follow this calm, security-first walkthrough to prepare your Trezor, install its companion app, and create your wallet with confidence.
THE FIRST FEW MINUTES
Keep your device and its recovery information private. You do not need to rush, and no legitimate support agent should ask you to reveal your recovery words.
Unpack your Trezor and inspect the packaging and device for anything unexpected. Use a computer you trust, connect the wallet directly, and avoid public or shared machines.
Enter trezor.io/start yourself rather than following an unfamiliar link in an email, message, advertisement, or search result. Confirm the spelling and secure connection in your browser.
Follow the official instructions to install or open Trezor Suite for your operating system. Let the app guide you through device checks and any firmware update. Do not disconnect the wallet while an update is in progress.
Choose the create-wallet option on your device and follow its screen. Your device will show recovery words for your backup. Write them down offline, in the order shown, and store them somewhere private and secure.
Complete the device’s backup check and set a PIN by following on-device prompts. You can then explore accounts in Suite. Before receiving funds, verify addresses on the Trezor screen itself—not only on your computer.
YOUR BACKUP IS YOURS ALONE
Your recovery seed is the master backup for your wallet. Anyone who obtains it may be able to access your assets. Trezor support will never need these words to troubleshoot a problem.
